AVES (Acting for Life and Wild Species) is a non-profit organization for the protection of nature and wildlife, whether free or captive, which was created in June 2005. Directed 100% by volunteers, the association now has over 2100 members. With a broad field of action to protect living species, here are their favorite subjects: coexistence with large predators (bears, wolves), defense of unpopular species (badgers, foxes, corvids...), fighting against shows of bear and wolf handlers, defending nature (biodiversity) in France, raising public awareness (shows about polar bears, brochures, exhibitions, conferences...), and supporting grassroots associations and co-implementing field actions (hedgerow restoration, pond digging...).

Pays de l'Ours - Adet is the Pyrenean association created in 1991 to initiate the return of bears to their natural habitat. Coordinated by a team of enthusiasts, the association brings together members, volunteers, and professionals who form a motivated community dedicated to preserving bears. The association is actively involved in various areas to protect this species. Among its main objectives are the restoration of a viable population of brown bears in the Pyrenees and the promotion of peaceful coexistence with these emblematic animals. Thanks to their work, the association has carried out 10 releases of brown bears since 1996.
